Russia expels 2 Latvian diplomats in retaliation

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that it will expel two diplomatic employees from the Latvian diplomatic mission in Moscow as a retaliatory move, reported Xinhua.

The ministry on Thursday summoned Latvian Charge d'Affaires Dace Rutka and expressed strong protest over announcing two Russian diplomats in the Latvian capital Riga as "persona non grata without any grounds," it said in a statement.

The ministry said it has informed the Latvian side that if Riga continues hostile actions against Russian diplomats, Moscow will "inevitably take other steps that will be painful for Riga."

It’s unfortunate to see diplomatic tensions escalating between Russia and Latvia. Both sides need to find a way to communicate and resolve issues without resorting to expulsions and retaliations.

As a Russian citizen, I believe that retaliatory measures against Latvian diplomats are necessary to protect our country’s interests. Both sides should strive for diplomatic solutions rather than escalating tensions.

It’s disappointing to see diplomatic relations between Russia and Latvia deteriorating like this. It’s crucial for both countries to find a way to resolve their differences through dialogue and mutual respect, rather than escalating tensions further. Let’s hope both sides can work towards peaceful and diplomatic solutions.

It is quite distressing to see the escalating tensions between Russia and Latvia. Diplomatic expulsions only deepen the divide between the two nations. Dialogue and diplomacy should be prioritized to prevent further conflict.
