Passenger train trips take a dip last quarter – All aboard the low numbers train!

A total of 20 million trips was travelled by rail in the fourth quarter of 2023, which was 4 % less than in the same quarter of 2022, according to Statistics Finland.

Freight transferred by rail was 7 million tons, which was 12 % less than in the fourth quarter of 2022.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, 7 million tons of goods were transported by rail.

Number of passanger kilometers increased by 17 % compared to the previous quarter.
