5 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrike in Gaza

Five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in western Gaza City, Palestinian sources said on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that Israeli aircraft struck the vocational college affiliated with the UNRWA in Gaza City in the north of the Gaza Strip with at least one missile.

The Israeli airstrike caused extensive damage to the college's premises, destroying its outer wall and security rooms, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.

Medical sources told Xinhua that five Palestinians were killed, and several others were injured, who were transported to the Baptist Hospital in central Gaza City.

No immediate comment was issued by the Israeli army or the UNRWA regarding the airstrike.

As of Sunday, the death toll of Palestinians has risen to 37,598 since the start of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, said the health authorities in Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Sunday that its operational activity continues in the southern and central Gaza Strip.

Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage.
