2 more remanded into custody for firearms museum theft

The Pirkanmaa District Court on Friday remanded two more people into custody for their alleged involvement in the incident of the Kuhmoinen firearms museum theft, police said in a press release on Monday.

The suspects are a 61-year old woman and a 37-year old man and both of them hailed from Pirkanmaa.

They were suspected of hiding the firearms stolen from the museum.

Police also arrested a 34-year old man in connection with the incident.

Members of the law enforcing agency recovered two handguns from the apartment of one of the suspects.

There are still 31 stolen handguns missing and suspected that the firearms were shifted to southern Finland.

The firearms stolen from the museum included Nagant revolvers, Lahti pistols and Colt handguns and all of the firearms remain functional.

Police are still requesting information about the light blue metallic Toyota Avensis and silver Opel Insignia private cars that were moving at the area during the night of the incident.

Earlier on July 9, the Pirkanmaa District Court remanded a man into custody for his alleged involvement in the firearms museum theft.

A total of 34 handguns were stolen from the Gun and Military Museum at Kuhmoinen in Pirkanmaa region in-between July 2 and July 3.
