Finland´s Heliovaara and Britain's Patten win Wimbledon doubles title

Finland's Harri Heliovaara and Great Britain's Henry Patten saved three championship points on their way to winning a thrilling men's doubles final at Wimbledon on Saturday.

Heliovaara (35) and Patten (28) clinched a victory over against Australian 15th seeds Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson by 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (11-9).

The successful pair dropped to their knees in celebration having clinched a remarkable win, reported BBC, adding that they had come into the tournament unseeded after only starting to work together in April.

President Alexander Stubb congratulated Heliovaara and Patten for winning the Wimbledon title.

“Onnea and congratulations Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten for winning the Wimbledon men’s doubles!

An epic battle. Finnish-British cooperation at its best,” Stubb wrote in a post in his social media platform X on Saturday.

He also expressed his pleasure to follow the career of Heliovaara and wished good luck for the future.
