Last year sees 3,270 bankruptcies in Finland

A total of 3,270 bankruptcy proceedings were concluded by courts in 2023, according to Statistics Finland.

A total of 521 of these ended with certification of the disbursement list. In other cases, bankruptcy proceedings were discontinued at different stages of the bankruptcy proceedings.

In 2023, the commonest reason for discontinuing bankruptcy proceedings was the insufficient means of the bankruptcy estate, which was the reason in 1,698 cases.

The second commonest reason for discontinuing bankruptcy proceedings was withdrawal of the application, which was the reason in 538 cases.

Altogether 37 decisions on transferring to public receivership were made by district courts in 2023.
