A cyclist was killed when a truck knocked down the person at an intersection in Turku on Monday afternoon, police said.
The accident took place at about 1:45 pm when the cyclist was crossing the Kerttulinkatu road at the intersection of Hämeenkatu and Kerttulinkatu.
At the same time, a truck was turning to right at the intersection and hit the cyclist resulting death of the cyclist on the spot.
Responding to an alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and found the cyclist dead.
Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.
Police said that the signal of traffic lights at the intersection was green for both the cyclist and the truck driver at the time of accident.
They suspected the truck driver of grossly endangering traffic safety and causing death.
The truck driver was not suspected of drunk driving.
