Resumption of power generation at OL1 nuke plant delays further
Resumption of power generation at the Olkiluoto 1 (OL1) nuclear plant after the annual outage will be delayed further until June 18, said the owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO).
“The annual outage of Olkiluoto 1 is nearing completion, but some work is still ongoing on the generator. According to the new estimate, electricity production will resume on Tuesday, June 18th,” said TVO in a post on its social media platform X.
Earlier in late May the TVO said that resumption of power generation at the OL1 nuclear plant after the annual outage will be delayed until June 16 due to a glitch detected in the generator.
The plant went under service outage on May 12 and was initially scheduled to be completed by May 28.
Olkiluoto 2 and Olkiluoto 3, which have already completed their maintenance, are producing electricity normally. Currently, they are generating electricity at a capacity of about 2,460 MW.
The resumption of power generation at the Olkiluoto 2 nuclear power plant was delayed by one day due technical problems.
The OL3 nuclear power plant resumed operation on May 16, which also delayed by several times due to glitches.
