New car registration drops by 16% in April

A total of 6,156 new passenger cars were registered in April 2024, which was 16 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 11,785 new vehicles were registered in April. First registrations decreased by 11 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Out of first-time registered passenger cars in April, 27 per cent were fully electric. The number of electric car registrations was 1,678, or 29 per cent fewer than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger cars numbered 3,363, which was 28 per cent more than one year earlier.

In January to April period of 2024, a total of 24,609 new passenger cars were registered, which was 13 per cent fewer than one year earlier.

New car registration also dropped by 16% in March.
