One person was burnt to death in a fire in Parikkala while another person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Hirvensalmi during the weekend, police said in separate press releases.
Police said that one person was killed when a fire broke out in an apartment building at Särkisalmi area in Parikkala, a municipality under South-Karelia region on Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out at about 1:36 pm and engulfed the apartment immediately.
Rescue service personnel and police rushed to the spot responding to an alarm and doused the fire.
They recovered the body of the deceased from there.
Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the victim and the origin of the fire.
Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident.
They are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and two people were injured in a road accident in Hirvensalmi, a municipality under Southern Savonia region on Saturday afternoon.
The accident took place at about 2:20 p.m. when two private cars collided head-on with each other on Hietasentie road at the area.
A young adult man died on the spot in the accident while two people were injured critically.
The police, however, did not disclose detail about the incident and the identities of the victims.
Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.
