16 killed road mishaps in Finland in August
A total of 16 people were killed and 367 others injured in 307 road accidents across the country in August, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of deceased was one higher and number of persons injured 18 lower than the numbers in August 2023.
Out of the dead, five travelled by passenger car, one by van, one by motorcycle and one by lorry in August 2024.
Two pedestrians and three cyclists were also killed.
In addition, three other road users were killed.
Among the deceased, 15 were men and one was a woman.
Meanwhile, a total of 110 people were killed and 2,148 others injured in 1,758 road accidents in the first eight months of this year.
The number of deaths was the same and number of persons injured 174 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023.
Of the persons who were killed, 52 travelled by passenger car, five by van, three by moped, 13 by motorcycle and two by lorry.
Pedestrians killed numbered 12 and cyclists 12. In addition, 11 other road users were killed.
