One person was killed in a road accident at Paltamo, a municipality in Kainuu region on Thursday evening, police said in a press release.
The accident took place when a truck collided head-on with a private car on Ouluntie road.
Driver of the private car died on the spot.
Both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident but the driver of the truck remained unhurt.
The police did not disclose the identity of the deceased.
Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.
Meanwhile, an elderly person was burnt to death in a fire, which broke out in an apartment building at Kulleronkatu in Tornio, a municipality under Lapland region late Wednesday night, police said in another press release on Thursday.
The fire broke out at about 8:00 pm and engulfed the house immediately.
Rescue service personnel rushed to the spot responding to an alarm and recovered the body of the deceased from there.
Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the victim and the origin of the fire.
Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident.
They are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.
