Finns make more leisure trips in July
Finnish people made about one million leisure trips abroad in July 2024, which is a tenth more than in the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of domestic leisure trips with overnight stay also grew by one tenth and was roughly 3.4 million in July.
The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was around 0.9 million, which is 13 per cent more than one year earlier.
About 8.1 million overnight stays during leisure trips abroad were recorded, which is slightly fewer than in the year before.
The growth in the number of domestic leisure trips was due to an increase in trips with free accommodation.
The number of trips grew by 15 per cent and was around 2.4 million in July 2024.
Approximately 14.2 million domestic overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded, which is one tenth more than in the year before.
The number of overnight stays in paid accommodation decreased by eight per cent and those in free accommodation increased by 17 per cent.
