Another foreign background person injured in racist attack in Oulu
Miscreant stabbed another foreign background man with sharp weapon and injured him critically outside of the Valkea shopping centre in Oulu late Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at about 9:30 p.m. when a 15-year-old boy attacked the foreign background adult person with a knife at the upper parts of his body.
The security guards of the shopping centre held the suspect and handed him over to police after the incident.
Police suspected racism as the motive of the attack.
This was the second incident of racist attack on foreign background people at the same place within a span of less than one week.
Earlier on June 13, a 12-year-old child was injured when a man with the background of extreme right activities attacked the child with knife at Valkea shopping centre.
The victim of the Tuesday´s attack was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, but police said that his condition was not life threatening.
Police also found indications that the stabbing was a copy of the attack on the foreign background child took place last week at the same shopping centre.
The police are investigating into the incident as attempted murder.
Meanwhile, several hundreds of people on Wednesday staged demonstration in Oulu City Centre protesting against the attacks on immigrants by the extreme rightists.
Police said that about 500 to 600 people participated in the demonstration and protested the attacks peacefully.
