Police warn of challenge urging school students online to take weapons

Police are aware of a challenge circulating on TikTok urging children and teenagers to take edged weapons with them to school, said the National Police Board in a press release on Tuesday.

The police have investigated the authenticity of the challenge but have not received any confirmation in the matter.

Police reminded that it is illegal to take edged weapons to school or carry them in public places.

If such an object is detected in the possession of a child or young person, the police will investigate the matter and a child welfare report will be made.

Police encouraged parents to engage in dialogue with their children about the challenges spreading online and encourage children to tell adults if they see such material on social media.
