Foreign qualifications recognized more frequently in Germany
The chances of foreign workers in Germany having their professional qualifications recognized have increased, according to official data, reported dpa.
Last year, the authorities decided in favour of 65,300 applications, the Federal Statistical Office reported on Thursday, a 25% increase compared to the previous year.
Some 69% of approvals were for medical qualifications. More than half of all applications were related to nursing.
Fourteen percent were from doctors, followed by engineers, teachers and teaching assistants.
One out of 10 approvals were for a professional qualification from Turkey, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Philippines, Tunisia, Syria, India and Ukraine.
The number of new applications rose by 26% to 62,100 last year.
