Mobile containerised laboratories for geophysical and geochemical equipment housing control systems, compressors, tanks and gas safety monitoring equipment for undertaking field research both on-shore and off-shore.

Mobile containerised laboratories

NGL has three containerised laboratories to support in-situ research. One is fitted out as an office, another as an analytical laboratory and the third as a general purpose laboratory.

The containerised laboratories have a vestibule on entry, the doors of which are kept closed to maintain a positively pressurised space. As such the containers can be used as a refuge from external fires or gases.

There are flexible input power supply options, electrical power conditioning and power back-up through an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) making them ideally suited to operating in a field environment.

Military-specification shock-proof racks provide space for computers, networking and specialist equipment in the office and analytical equipment in the laboratory, allowing for ample desk space. They have all the normal safety features that would be expected in a laboratory or office, and are lockable and vandalism resistant. The containerised laboratories are also capable of operating in a temperature range from -10 to +45oC and maintain an interior temperature of 23oC.

The containers are certified to DNV 2.7.2 (container certification), Solas 60 (fire), zone 1 (explosive atmosphere) and as such can be used both on-shore and off-shore.

CCS applications

The mobile containerised laboratories can be used for geochemical analysis in the field especially for baseline and ongoing monitoring and verification including environmental monitoring.

Other applications

The laboratories are suitable for any geochemical analysis in-situ including:

  • On board ships for offshore oil and gas or marine research including oil spill response
  • Offshore oil rigs
  • Production areas (i.e. well-heads)
